TL;DR — Your habit data never leaves your device and your private iCloud account. We have no servers, no access to your data, and we sell nothing.
1. Who We Are
1% Better is an iOS app created by Jugal Mistry ("we," "us," or "our"). The app is available on the Apple App Store at apps.apple.com/app/id6761054951.

2. Data We Collect and Store
2a. Habit Data (Stays on Your Device)
All habit-related data — including your tracker names, daily check-in answers (yes/no), streaks, multiplier scores, heatmaps, and check-in history — is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and synced to your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit infrastructure.
We have zero access to this data. It lives in your personal iCloud container, is encrypted by Apple, and is never visible to us or transmitted to any server we operate.
2b. What is NOT Collected
We do not collect:
- Your tracker names, icons, or colors
- Your check-in answers (yes or no)
- Your multiplier scores or streak counts
- Any personally identifiable information about your habits
- Your name, email, phone number, or location
- Any health data
2c. Optional Aggregate Analytics
The app may send anonymous, aggregate product events to help us understand how features are used. These events are designed to be completely non-identifiable and contain no habit content whatsoever.
Examples of what may be collected (anonymous only):
- Onboarding step completed (e.g., "completed step 3")
- Paywall viewed or dismissed
- Subscription action taken (purchased, restored)
- Milestone tier reached (e.g., "30-day streak" — no tracker identity)
- Number of non-archived trackers when one is created or deleted
- Current subscription plan (free / trial / premium)
What is never included in analytics events: tracker names, check-in answers, scores, multipliers, streaks, heatmap data, or any per-tracker field that could identify a specific habit.
These analytics events may be processed by a third-party analytics provider (such as PostHog). When used, only anonymous session identifiers are transmitted — no name, email, Apple ID, or device-linked identifier is included.
3. iCloud and Data Sync
1% Better uses Apple's CloudKit to sync your data across your Apple devices. This means:
- Your data is stored in your personal iCloud account, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy
- We never have access to your iCloud data
- Data syncs end-to-end between your devices via Apple's infrastructure
- If you are not signed into iCloud, the app works fully offline — data is stored locally on your device only
4. Subscription and Purchases
In-app purchases are handled entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit 2. We do not process, store, or have access to your payment information. All billing, receipts, and subscription management are handled by Apple.
To manage or cancel subscriptions: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iOS device.
5. Notifications
If you grant notification permission, the app schedules local push notifications (daily reminders and streak-break warnings) on your device using Apple's UserNotifications framework. These notifications are generated locally — no notification content is sent through our servers or any third-party push service.
6. Cookies and Tracking
The 1% Better app does not use cookies, web tracking, or cross-app tracking. We do not participate in Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework because we do not track users across apps or websites owned by other companies.
7. Children's Privacy
1% Better is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us at [email protected].
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Since all habit data is stored on your device and in your iCloud, you control it entirely:
- Delete the app to remove local data from your device
- Reset all data in Settings within the app — this also clears your iCloud copy
- You can manage your iCloud storage through Apple's iCloud settings at any time
9. Third-Party Services
The only third-party services the app may interact with are:
- Apple CloudKit — private data sync
- Apple StoreKit 2 — in-app purchases
- Apple UserNotifications — local push notifications
- Analytics provider (optional) — anonymous aggregate usage events only, as described in Section 2c
10. Your Rights
Because we do not collect personal data (your habit data stays on your own device and iCloud), most data rights requests do not apply. However, you may:
- Contact us at [email protected] with any privacy questions
- Request information about what anonymous analytics (if any) have been associated with your session
- Delete all your data directly from within the app (Settings → Reset All Data)
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Effective date" at the top of this page. We'll notify users of material changes through an in-app notice.
